Show Choir
SNJ Studio is home to Center Stage, our middle school girls show choir for Grades 6-8.
This non-auditioned ensemble, directed by Joel Johnston, rehearses and performs throughout the year, including two major studio concerts and three Show Choir Festivals. In just five years, Center Stage has become one of the finest middle school show choirs in the region.
Registration Process
A strict limit of 48 members will be accepted. The ensemble is currently filled for the 2011-2012 school year.
Applications for 2012-2013 will be accepted on April 14, 2012 from 10 AM to Noon. Applications will be taken IN PERSON ONLY on a first come basis. Applicants must have a completed signed registration form and deposit to be accepted. This ensemble fills quickly, and no phone calls will be accepted for registration.

2011-2012 Performance Schedule
Ensemble Requirements:
- If selected, members must commit to rehearsals and performances for the entire 2011-2012 season. Rehearsals are Mondays from 4:30 - 5:45 PM. In the event of a conflict with a school music activity, it is understood that students will honor their commitment to the school activity.
- Choreography rehearsals will be at the Stepperettes Studio, 10925 Harrison Street.
- There is a fee of $335 for Center Stage. All music will be provided. A $100 deposit must accompany applications.
- Center Stage members will purchase an outfit and shoes at a reasonable cost.

These workshops are designed for any middle school or high school student who would like additional dance training - especially to prepare for spring show choir auditions.
Learn all the dance styles and moves from today's top show choirs taught by Melanie Walters,
an adjudicator and award-winning choreographer for show choirs located throughout Nebraska and Iowa.
Private and Semi-Private Show Choir Dance Lessons
For those who might like more intensive one-on-one or small group training, Kelsey McDermott is available for private or semi-private lessons. Please call the studio for more information or to schedule a lesson!

DANCE INSTRUCTOR: Kelsey McDermott
Kelsey is a
free lance choreographer and former member of award winning Westside High
School's ATSC. A show choir specialist, Kelsey can help you brush up on specific
show choir dance and hip-hop dance styles. She is also trained in tap, jazz,
ballet, pointe, and ball room (salsa, swing, ect.) She received the Best Female
Performer Award, at a national show choir competition in 2007, and the All
American Dancer Award in 2006. Kelsey has been dancing for 18 years, and
performing in musicals and a female a capella group for the past four.

The studio also offers private audition prep lessons designed to help you prepare for your upcoming show choir audition.
The SNJ faculty consists of 17 highly regarded professional musicians who maintain active careers as performers, clinicians, composers and educators. Specialists in classical, jazz and musical theater, they average over 15 years of teaching experience and work with all levels from beginners through advanced.
