The studio currently has two high quality vocal ensembles.  SNJ Singers is a high school ensemble that specializes in a cappella singing, and SNJ Center Stage is a middle school show choir.  Both rehearse and perform during the full school year!

SNJ Youth Choir - Boys and Girls Grades 4-6

The SNJ Youth Choir perform a lively mix of choral and pop music with a little movement blended in for fun! The choir will perform on studio concerts and other community events.

SNJ Singers - Grades 9-12

The SNJ Singers is the premier vocal ensemble at the Sharon North Jones Studio of Music.  The ensemble is comprised of talented high school singers from across the Omaha metropolitan area.  The SNJ Singers have been featured performers at World's of Fun, as well as the Chamber Choir Festival at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the Southwest Iowa Men's and Women's Fall Concert at the Iowa Western Performing Arts Center.  The group also performs as part of the Sounds of the Season series in the Old Market and the Wells Fargo Family Holiday Festival and the Henry Doorly Zoo Family Night.  This 30-voice ensemble, directed by Joel Johnston, specializes in a cappella singing, ranging from Renaissance madrigals to doo-wop and vocal jazz.

Auditions will take place in April and May for the 2012-2013 season, although late auditions are accepted.  Please call SNJ Studios (402-933-1326) if you are interested in auditioning for the group.  Auditions are individual and will take approximately 10 minutes.  Singers do not need to prepare anything in advance for auditions.

Who Joins SNJ Singers?

  • Members of this year's group come from all three Millard schools, both Papillion schools, Westside, Ralston, Skutt Catholic, and home school.
  • All of our members are active in their own school programs - Show Choir, Choir, and musicals.
  • Our members join because they are talented singers, want to be in a great ensemble, enjoy getting to know students from other schools, and truly love performing.

Ensemble Requirements:

  • If selected, members must commit to rehearsals and performances for the entire 2012-2013 season.  In the event of a conflict with a school music activity, it is understood that students will first honor their commitment to the school activity.  Rehearsals will be Sundays from 5:00 - 6:30 PM.
  • There is a fee of $298 for the year.  All music will be provided.  Payment is due at first rehearsal on August 19, 2012.

Center Stage - Grades 6-8

Center Stage
is a middle school show choir for girls in grades 6-8 for the 2012-2013 school year.

This non-auditioned ensemble, directed by Joel Johnston, rehearses and performs throughout the year, including two major studio concerts and three Show Choir Festivals.  Formed just six short years ago, Center Stage has become one of the finest middle school show choirs in the region.

Registration Process
A strict limit of 48 members will be accepted.  The ensemble is currently filled for the 2011-2012 school year

Applications for 2012-2013 will be accepted on April 14, 2012 from 10 AM to Noon.  Applications will be taken IN PERSON ONLY on a first come basis.  Applicants must have a completed signed registration form and deposit to be accepted.  This ensemble fills quickly, and no phone calls will be accepted for registration.

2012 - 2013 Center Stage Application

Ensemble Requirements:

  • If selected, members must commit to rehearsals and performances for the entire 2012-2013 season.  Rehearsals are Mondays from 4:30 - 5:45 PM.  In the event of a conflict with a school music activity, it is understood that students will honor their commitment to the school activity.
  • Choreography rehearsals will be at the Stepperettes Studio, 10925 Harrison Street.
  • There is a fee of $335 for Center Stage.  All music will be provided.  A $100 deposit must accompany applications.
  • Center Stage members will purchase an outfit and shoes at a reasonable cost.
