Katie Mersch, soprano, is a DMA candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she also received her MM in Vocal Performance. She holds a BM in Vocal Performance and BM in Vocal Church Music from St. Olaf College. In addition to teaching at SNJ Studios, Katie currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Grace University, Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Iowa Western Community College, and Adjunct Instructor of Voice and Music Theory at Southeast Community College.
Katie is an active performing artist who has appeared in recital venues, on the operatic stage, and in choral ensembles. Stage credits include Antonia (understudy) in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Victoria in Bolcom’s A Wedding, and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. Katie has sung with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus, a professional choir under the direction of Dr. Charles Bruffy. Most recently, she presented a lecture recital at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln based on her dissertation research of art song music for solo lyric soprano voice and piano by contemporary composer William Vollinger. She will perform the same recital in the fall of 2017 at Nyack College in New York where Vollinger teaches.
