Monika Peters is currently the vocal music director at Papillion Middle School where directs the 7th and 8th grade choirs as well as her award winning show choir, Reflections. Monika also teaches private voice at SNJ Studio of Music in Omaha.
She has been in theatre productions in the St. Paul Community Theatre, Grand Island Little Theatre, and the Papillion Lavista Community Theatre. In 2011, she was the music director for the Papillion Lavista Community Theatre’s production of The Music Man. She was a member of the Papillion Lavista Community Theatre Board for 7 years, where she served as Special Events Director.
Monika graduated from Kearney State College with a BFAE and also a Master’s Degree in Music Education. Her experience includes 34 years as a music educator. She was an instrumental music director for 14 years and has been a vocal music director for the last 20 years. Being a clinician for honors choirs and judging elementary, middle school and high school music/show choir competitions in both Nebraska and Iowa have been music experiences that she has thoroughly enjoyed. Monkia received the Outstanding Educator Award in 1990 during her tenure as band director at St. Paul High School. In 2003, she was recognized by the Grand Island Independent for being an Extraordinary Person. Monika was awarded the Outstanding Secondary Educator award in 2016 from the Papillion Lavista School District.
