Monika Peters is currently in her 15th year as the vocal music director at Papillion Middle School where she directs the 7th and 8th grade choirs as well as their award winning show choir, REFLECTIONS at Papillion Middle School.
She has been in theatre productions in the St. Paul Community Theatre, Grand Island Little Theatre, and the Papillion Lavista Community Theatre. In 2011, she was the music director for the Papillion Lavista Community Theatre’s production of THE MUSIC MAN. She was a member of the Papillion Lavista Community Theatre Board for 7 years where she served as special events director.
Monika graduated from Kearney State College with a BFAE and also a Master’s Degree in Music Education. Her experience includes 37 years as a music educator. She was an instrumental music director for 14 years and has been a vocal music director for the last 23 years.
Being a clinician for honor choirs and judging elementary, middle school and high school music /show choir competitions in both Nebraska and Iowa have been music experiences that she has thoroughly enjoyed.
Monika received the OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR AWARD in 1990 during her tenure as band director at St. Paul High School. In 2003, she was recognized by the Grand Island Independent for being an EXTRAORDINARY PERSON. Monika was awarded the OUTSTANDING SECONDARY EDUCATOR award in 2016 from the Papillion Lavista School District.
