GRAHAM BROOKS

American Tenor Graham Brooks is a young, versatile teaching artist from Omaha, Nebraska. Lauded for his rich timbre and artistic vocalism, Graham has sung operatic roles in repertoire spanning 5 centuries and 7 languages. He has Bachelor's Degrees in Mathematics and Voice Performance from Simpson College and a Master's Degree in Voice Performance from Florida State University.

 

An avid student of anatomy and physics, Graham's approach to the teaching of singing combines a technical foundation of efficient phonation with avenues for artistic expression and an exploration of each individual's passion. He is well-versed in the teaching of classical, musical theatre, jazz and contemporary styles. Graham's philosophy of voice is this: "As singers we are storytellers, and we have a responsibility to not only sing well, but to communicate; to demand an emotional response from our listeners."

 

As a performer, Graham has had an impressive variety of operatic experiences. This Summer, Graham joins Central City Opera for their 2023 summer festival as a Young Artist. In the Spring of 2023, Brooks made his professional debut with Opera Omaha as Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro. In the summers of 2021 and 2022 with Utah Vocal Arts Academy Graham presented the featured roles of Pluto in Offenbach's Orpheus in the underworld and The Prince in Dvorak's Rusalka. During the quarantined summer of 2020, Graham helped produce virtual programming as a Young Artist with the Ad Astra Music Festival. Additionally, his favorite collegiate credits include Giovanni in Catàn's La hija de Rappaccini, Laurie in Adamo's Little Women, both Tamino and Monostatos in separate productions of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, and Don Pelagio in Haydn's La Canterina.
