Jennifer Grenier is a native of Wilber, Nebraska where she graduated with honors from Wilber-Clatonia High School in 1986. She spent most of her childhood pursuing music and dance, runway modeling, hunting, motocross, sports, and anything her four brothers were doing, but on a mission to do it better! She attended Doane University on music and volleyball scholarship and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Education with an emphasis on K-12 vocal and Instrumental music. During those years she was active in band, marching band, Phi Sigma Tau Sorority, Doane Choir and Collegiate Nebraska Music Educators Association. Jennifer Grenier then earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at Wayne State College.
In 1990 she began her career in music education by working in Stromsburg Community Schools in Stromsburg, Nebraska, teaching Kindergarten through 6th grade. From 1992 until 2004 Mrs. Grenier lived and taught Kindergarten through 12th grade in Stanton, Nebraska. While there, she directed a (by audition) 7th & 8th Grade Honor Choir, the 7th & 8th Grade Show Choir, 9-12 Girls Glee, 9-12 Mens Barbershop, 9-12 Varsity Choir and 9-12 Varsity Show choir, coached 7th & 8th Grade Volleyball and filled in a semester in the 5-12 Band and Jazz Band role. Jennifer Grenier helped charter and sponsor Stanton’s Tri-M Music Honor Society, which presided over sessions at the Nebraska Music Educators annual state convention in 2002. She was also active in the Stanton Education Association and taught piano and voice studio lessons.
From 2004 until present day, Jennifer Grenier has served the Fremont Public School District of Fremont, Nebraska in various capacities, beginning with K-4 General Music at all but one of the 7 elementary schools in the city, as well as the Pathfinder Program for high needs learners. When the 5th & 6th Grade Johnson Crossing Academic Center was built nine years ago, Mrs. Grenier was instrumental in classroom and curriculum design and served the building in many ways which earned her Board of Education Recognition as an outstanding director and educator. She incorporated a staff and student wellness activity called Walking Wednesdays and presented on staff wellness at the State Middle Level Educators Association. Students logging in the most miles earned a morning where they could train with their favorite teacher or mentor. She co-presented with her daughter (also a professional music educator) on how to start musical theater programs at the Nebraska Association of Middle Level Educators after successfully implementing a Broadway Music Club in her own building, plus a summer music theater camp alongside high school director, Mark Harman. Shows included The Wizard Of Oz, Disney’s The Lion King, Joust!, Disney’s Alice In Wonderland and Aladdin. Jennifer Grenier presided over 5th & 6th Grade General Music courses, as well as the 5th & 6th Grade Honor Choirs, which earned Superior ratings in competition. Jennifer Grenier also taught a Professional Development Course through Fremont’s “Tiger U” entitled Incorporating Music and Movement Into Your Classroom. She has served as a mentor for Student Teachers and practicum students for Midland University, Wayne State University, Hastings College and Grace University.
Her Pathfinder and Special Needs instruction prompted her to become a member of Fremont’s FIRST Team, where she wrote SpEd Grants to secure assistive materials for students K-8 as well as mirrors for the Middle School School Choir Room, attended ESU training and webinars, helped guide teachers needing assistance with students on the Autism spectrum, and promoted district-wide t-shirt sales raising awareness for Autism. Proceeds from these shirts went directly towards parent support activities sponsored by the FIRST Team and their administration.
