Mackenzie received her Master of Arts in Theatre from Regent University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theatre from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri in Kansas City where she appeared in numerous productions including Most Happy Fella (Rosabella) and Pirates of Penzance.

Mackenzie has performed at many Kansas City venues such as Union Station City Stage, Theatre in the Park, Musical Theatre Heritage and the Barn Players Theatre. Favorite KC roles include Jo in Little Women, Florence in Chess, Fran in Promises Promises, Elsa in The Sound of Music and Maureen in Rent, which she has done twice.
For the past nine years she has been the director of the musical theatre program Grace University where she taught classes and voice lessons, directed 11 fully staged productions, and created and directed 10 cabaret showcases.
Since moving back to Omaha, she has worked with the Blue Barn Theatre : Heather Chandler in Heathers: The Musical (which earned her a TAG Nomination) and with the Omaha Community Playhouse playing the Narrator in Murder Ballad (which earned her the Fonda-McGuire Award).

Mackenzie currently works as the Henry Fonda Theatre Academy Director at the Omaha Community Playhouse and also serves as an adjudicator for the Omaha Performing Arts High School Theatre Awards program.
