Nebraska-born and raised, Emily Jo Voogd is a passionate soprano with a BA in Vocal Performance from Creighton University. She is currently furthering her education through the University of Oklahoma’s Online Program, pursuing a degree in the Business of the Arts with a focus on Management and Entrepreneurship.
Her work in the arts spans performance, education, and administration, making her a dynamic and multifaceted contributor to the creative community. Emily currently serves as Assistant Director at Dance Solutions in Council Bluffs and as Operations Manager for Résonance, the area's premier professional vocal ensemble, which specializes in sharing stories through song. Additionally, she serves as a dedicated voice instructor at SNJ Studio of Music, where she mentors and trains young vocalists.
In the summer of 2024, she advanced her operatic training at the Berlin Opera Academy, where she performed the role of Sandmännchen in Hänsel und Gretel. Additional performance and creative credits include Lita Encore in Ruthless!, Lily in The Secret Garden, and Assistant Director and Choreographer for Next to Normal, all with Creighton University.
Grounded in her faith, she is deeply committed to using her artistry to glorify Christ and inspire the next generation of performers through mentorship, education, and performance.
Artist Statement:
My mission is to connect with audiences through the power of storytelling; bringing joy, hope, laughter, and even tears. As an artist and educator, I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for students of all ages and backgrounds to express themselves freely. By being a role model and fostering emotional connections, I believe in their individual growth while cherishing their unique qualities. I value collaboration, leadership, and compassion, aiming to inspire hearts rather than just filling seats in theaters or classrooms. Through my vast experience and the guidance of mentors, I am committed to sharing my expertise in dance, music, and theatre to make a positive impact on others' lives.
