Piano
B.A., Piano Performance, Montana State University
My first career choice was to be a piano teacher. I can’t really remember wanting another job, unless it was to be a cowgirl - growing up on a ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills will lend itself to such ideas!
From the very beginning, I studied with wonderful teachers who were always encouraging, gently pushing, and most of all were enthusiastic. I attended Montana State University in Billings, Montana receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Piano Performance and with an extended emphasis in piano pedagogy. Over 25 years later, it is a huge blessing to do what I love!My philosophy of teaching is that education is learning to love what is true and good and beautiful. This idea is coupled with a belief that music is for EVERYONE regardless of their age or ability. The goal is to enjoy the journey along the way. I want my students to look back at their time with me and say, “I love music MORE because of my lessons with Jodi.”
When I’m not teaching, you will likely find me listening to audiobooks, podcasts and music, meal planning for my husband and however many of our kids happen to be around, propagating a houseplant or two, or trying to identify birds in my backyard. I also enjoy playing duets and searching for THE perfect piece to inspire a student.
